Most Anticipated Movies

Most Anticipated Movies of 2014 (in no particular order)

  1. American Sniper (there’s a reason this one was listed first even if I just wrote in the above line that these are listed in no particular order. Wow! Just wow!)
  2. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (not a huge fan…not at all)
  3. Foxcatcher (awesome movie)
  4. 300, Rise of an Empire (entertaining, but unmemorable)
  5. Noah (this movie was absolutely awful…one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen)
  6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (this movie was absolutely terrible)
  7. Godzilla (the biggest disappointment of 2014…however…the expectations were gigantic)
  8. Edge of Tomorrow (surprise of the summer…good flick)
  9. Interstellar (quite good, but not great)
  10. Mockingjay Part 1
  11. Devil’s Knot (meh)
  12. The Secret Service (moved to an early 2015 release)
  13. Unbroken (along with Birdman, the most overrated movie of 2014…at least this one won’t win any Oscars…I’m not so sure about Birdman)
  14. The Theory of Everything (an important movie to see)
  15. Exodus: Gods and Kings  (big, big fan!)
  16. Wild (I thought it would be better…it wasn’t bad…it just wasn’t great)
  17. The Good Lie (Reese Witherspoon’s other 2014 film…Wild was her first…The Good Lie was better)
  18. The Imitation Game (one of the five best movies of the year)

Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

1. The Place Beyond the Pines
2. Elysium
3. The Great Gatsby
4. Man of Steel (so, so bad)
5. Gravity
6. Captain Phillips
7. Lee Daniels’ The Butler

Most Anticipated Movies of 2012

1. The Dark Knight Rises (Amazing. This summer’s biggest blockbuster heads into awards season as the movie to beat)
2. The Avengers (About what I expected, only maybe not quite as good)
3. The Grey (good stuff)
4. Only God Forgives (moved to 2013) – weird and disturbing, but sort of in a good way
5. Gangster Squad (moved to 2013)
6. Safe House (this movie sucked)
7. Act of Valor (100-minute promotional advertisement to be a Navy SEAL)
8. Rampart (ugh)
9. The Cabin in the Woods (one of the 5 worst movies I’ve ever seen in the movie theater)
10. The Raven
11. The Amazing Spider-Man (this most likely will finish in my top 5 of 2012)
12.  The Bourne Legacy (it’s been a bad 12 months for Jeremy Renner. From out of this world performances in The Hurt Locker and The Town to latching on to guaranteed blockbusters with The Bourne Legacy, The Avengers, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol)
13. Flight (very good)
14. Killing Them Softly (this movie sucked)
15. Taken 2
16. Lincoln (very long and very boring, but well made)
17. World War Z (moved to 2013) – an amazing movie
18. Zero Dark Thirty (yawn)
19. The Great Gatsby (moved to summer 2013 with a repackaged trailer…great movie)
20. Django Unchained – wasn’t a fan

Most Anticipated Movies of 2011

  1. J Edgar (what a boring mess)
  2. The Ides of March (a fan, but this did not make my Top 10 of 2011)
  3. Thor (this movie sucked, totally disappointing)
  4. Take This  Waltz (don’t even know what this one is about yet, but Michelle Williams + Sarah Polley (followup to directorial debut Away From Here) – 8/11/12 (This movie was released in 2012 and was out of this world amazing)
  5. Drive (not as good as I expected)
  6. Hangover 2 (hilarious. I don’t care if it was basically the same movie again…the laughs were new)
  7. Captain America (worth the watch)
  8. The Tree of Life (terrible. that was a movie?)
  9. Transformers 3 (terrible. terrible. terrible.)
  10. Larry Crowne (I kind of liked this movie)
  11. Horrible Bosses (hilarious)
  12. Crazy, Stupid, Love. (funny and heartwarming. Carell is the funniest actor in America right now. Gosling keeps building his resume)
  13. The Descendants (I love 50% of Clooney’s movies. I hate the other 50%. There isn’t much middle ground. This one has some buzz though).
